The club secretary should have known
The manager should have known
The player should have known

There are no valid excuses for any of them not to have known.

Massive fuck up and all concerned are equally to blame cos all concerned should have fucking known!

Re: Ominimyigate
Someone in team administration should obviously be telling the manager who is ineligible due to suspension or something like this.

As someone said earlier he would have played in the League Cup at Gillingham because we allowed it. That’s the managers decision

The player should be focused enough to know about the consequences of playing in the League Cup for someone else.
Probably tells you one of the reasons he didn’t make it as a player

Re: Ominimyigate
If Manny didn't give a moment's thought to the rules of the League Cup, that doesn't mean he wasn't doing his job.

If Redknapp did the same, he certainly wasn't doing his.

The kid had no responsibility for admin, only his performance on the pitch. It would've been nice if he had said something, but he shouldn't have had to.

Re: Ominimyigate
From what I heard Manny wasn’t due to play that night. We got a late injury and Harry saw Manny in the corridor. He shouted at manny and said you are in. He probably didn’t have time for think.

I went to the game a could not believe what had happen . I think a mate of mine phoned and told me a day or two later and thought it was wind up.
I think we may have got away with fine, but their chairman at the time I think was Doug Ellis and he screamed merry hell until he got his replay and you just knew we would lose.

I remember John Gregory (the Villa manager) was in the middle of a touchline ban. He came out on the pitch before extra time to coach the players. Nothing was said about that of course.

Re: Ominimyigate
Manny should have known, so he should shoulder some of the blame.

Being too thick (which might well be the case) shouldn't be an excuse.

Does anyone think that Manny should have piped up or was he too thick to realise?

Blimey Dan, didn't realise that. Only WH eh? Couldn't make it up.

Re: Ominimyigate
Have a look at the link I posted. Manny played two cup games for Gillingham and was on the cover of one of the programmes. Unbelievable that not one person involved didn't stop to think. Stunningly unprofessional from everyone involved.

And fuck me, wasn't Ian Taylor our nemesis back then?

Re: Ominimyigate
Harry was. And still is a cunt. The club was. And is still run by cunts. And the Scousers are. And always will be cunts.!

One thing for sure. Everybody has at least acted consistently throughout this entire episode.

Re: Ominimyigate
Joyo, never said he did the admin. But, ultimately, he must have given the go ahead for Manny to play for Gillingham. Can't understand anyone who blames the player but not the club and the Manager. Just wrong.

Re: Ominimyigate
Can't see why Harry should be blamed, not his job doing admin for Premiership club.... Manny is a thick cunt and someone should have picked up he played for Gillingham and told Harry

I still get a sick feeling in my stomach over the thought of this whole episode.

Re: Ominimyigate
I saw Rio, Frank Jr and Manny play in the FA Youth Cup together and Manny was by far the standout player. I always felt he was very harshly treated by the club and was hung out to dry. Waste of a talent who drifted out of the game. The club should have backed him and helped him in my opinion. My take was yes, he should have known he had played for Gillingham in an earlier round whilst on loan but surely Gillingham would have got permission off the club to field him. Therefore, I assume it was ultimately Harry's decision to allow him to play and therefore he was as much to blame if not more so than Manny. The club also should have admin that is all over that sort of thing. I really felt for him and though Harry was a bit of c**t about it. Went on to prove himself a massive c**t from one club to the next. Still the public love him but I have my reservations.
